Engine Timing Cover — Rugged Front Protection for Toyota Trucks ️

How it works

The cover bolts to the engine face with a gasket/RTV seam. The crank passes through a front lip seal, while internal oil splash lubricates the chain and returns through passages. A rigid housing limits chain whip and supports sensor and accessory locations.

What happens if it’s broken ⚠️

Cracks or warpage cause oil leaks at the front main or corners, leaving spots under the car and oil on belts. Dirt enters, accelerating chain and guide wear. Timing can drift, leading to rattle, rough idle, loss of power, or VVT faults. Severe leaks drop oil level, risking bearing damage.

Always replace the gasket and front crank seal together, clean mating faces, apply sealant at corners, and torque bolts in sequence. Inspect chain guides and pulley surface; verify no leaks after refill.
