Rear Differential Mount Cushion
This mount cushion supports the rear differential and isolates vibration from the body. It keeps the driveline aligned, calms noise, and protects surrounding parts during hard acceleration and braking.
Why itβs needed
AWD and FWD-based SUVs place heavy torque through the rear diff. A healthy mount absorbs that twist, prevents harsh vibrations, and maintains correct pinion angle for smooth power delivery.
How it works
An elastomer core bonded to a steel sleeve sits between the diff bracket and subframe. When torque loads change, the cushion flexes, filtering shocks and keeping the differential centered so the prop shaft and axle shafts stay in line.
Symptoms of wear or damage β οΈ
Clunk when shifting from R to D, thud on take-off, shudder at low speeds, excessive diff movement, torn rubber, or fluid seep at the pinion seal caused by misalignment.
If you ignore it
Expect driveline vibration, premature CV/U-joint wear, stretched mounts, pinion seal leaks, and possible subframe damage. Handling and comfort both suffer.
Tech tip
Install with the suspension loaded, torque to spec, and replace corroded hardware. Pair with good side mounts for best NVH results
