Rear Differential Support Mount for Toyota AWD
Why this part is needed
This mount anchors the rear differential to the subframe and keeps the drivetrain aligned. It absorbs engine torque and road shocks so the prop shaft and axles run smooth. A healthy support reduces vibration, protects seals, and keeps the pinion angle correct for quiet, efficient power delivery.
How it works
A rubberβmetal bushing inside a reinforced bracket isolates the differential case from the body. During acceleration, braking, and cornering, the mount cushions twist and impacts, preventing metalβtoβmetal contact. This adds comfort, cuts noise, and extends life of CV joints, bearings, and the rear axle assembly.
What happens if itβs broken
- Clunk or thump on takeβoff and gear changes β οΈ
- Vibration at 40β60 mph; shudder under load
- Rear axle whine caused by poor pinion angle
- Fast wear of prop shaft joints, tires, and seals
Ignoring failure can crack the bracket, misalign the differential, and lead to oil leaks and costly drivetrain damage.
Service notes
- Use OEMβgrade rubber/metal; replace mounting bolts
- Tighten at ride height and torque to spec
- Inspect subframe, other bushings, and prop shaft
- Roadβtest and verify pinion angle β
